Insight: Heat Wave Continues / Marcos Breton / Artist Maren Conrad / Sound Advice: Classical / Caltrans Choir

Heat Wave Continues As temperatures continues to rise in Northern California and Western Nevada, we check in with forecasters, city officials and reporters about the different ways people and animals are copying with the heat. We’ll get an update on the weather from the National Weather Service as we head into the holiday weekend and we’ll hear how the City of Sacramento is keeping cool with Steve Cantelme, Interim Manager of the Office of Emergency Services. We’ll also check in with reporters Rich Ibarra, who braved the heat with a PG&E crew in Stockton yesterday, and Amy Quinton, who checked out some special treats for the animals at the Sacramento Zoo.

Artist Maren Conrad A Sacramento artist faced disappointment when her commissioned series, "Politically Vulnerable," was pulled from the Vanguard Lounge in Sacramento at the request of lobbyist Donne Brownsey. Maren Conrad's series, which portrayed 10 wives, girlfriends, and lovers of California Governors, has sparked controversy on social media about the appropriateness of her art as well as the Vanguard's decision to withdraw the series. Last Thursday, Maren's work opened at Studio S in Downtown Plaza. We'll talk with her about her work and this latest chapter in her career.
