Capitol Chat Early today, the California State Assembly and Senate began debating the tenative state budget deal reached this week between legislative Democrats and Governor Jerry Brown. In this week’s Capitol Chat, reporter Katie Orr updates on the steps toward finalizing a deal, which is due by Saturday, June 15.
Bay Delta Tour Capital Public Radio Environmental Reporter Amy Quinton is on a three-day tour of the Delta, put on by the California Water Education Foundation. We’ll talk with Amy about what she’s seen so far.News Updates It’s been a week full of contentious news, from bear control to public employee raises to sharing the American River Parkway. "The Tuskegee Airmen and Beyond" Dr. David Styles is the author of "The Tuskegee Airmen and Beyond", a book published this spring that chronicles the history of African-American involvment in military conflict and the corresponding challenge of civil rights. Dr. Styles will be speaking Saturday, June 15 about his book at the California Military Museum in Old Sacramento.
Pianist Pauline Yang The Miners Foundry in Nevada City
is presenting a new series in conjunction with the Gold Country Piano Institute. The Alumni Series will feature both a concert and a master class featuring prominent pianists. The first of the series is this weekend and features pianist Pauline Yang. Yang graduated from USC with a double degree in piano performance and political science from her undergraduate studies as well as a masters degree in piano performance. She made both her Philadelphia Orchestra debut as well as her solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of eleven and enrolled at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division later that year. We'll talk with Yang about her Saturday night concert and hear some of the music she'll play.
