A total eclipse of the moon will occur before dawn Saturday and it'll be an unusually brief one. Here are key things to know about the celestial spectacle.
According to the National Weather Forecast, a lunar eclipse will take place between 3:16 a.m. until 4:58 a.m. early Saturday.

The NWS says the eclipse is the shortest one of the century (with totality lasting about five minutes). By 5:03 a.m., the earth's shadow will be moving off the moon, according to the NWS. Not only is this event brief, but forecasters say skies are expected to be cloudy.
