University of the Pacific is in talks with Drexel University to allow Drexel students to finish their degrees on U.O.P's Sacramento campus. Once Drexel students have completed their degrees, some classes could be offered to Pacific students if U.O.P. continues the Drexel programs.
Three weeks ago, Drexel announced it would close its Sacramento campus on Capitol Mall.
Maria Pallavicini is University of the Pacific Provost. She says the school has been planning to increase the number of students and programs at its McGeorge campus in Sacramento.
"Potentially, some of the faculty and some of the staff that Drexel currently employs might be able to fit with some of the need Pacific has for instruction in a number of different areas."
Pallavicini says U.O.P. plans to offer health, business, and policy post-graduate degrees on its McGeorge School of Law campus in Oak Park.
There are about 600 students there now. With the new programs, University of the Pacific says the school could have as many as 1,000 students.
U.O.P. will not take over the building where Drexel held classes in Sacramento.
