Stockton will soon be getting a civics lesson specifically tailored for the city. The Stockton Civics Group (a congregation of the San Joaquin County Chamber of Commerce, the League of Women Voters, former astronaut Jose Hernandez, and others) released a 14-page booklet Monday called “Stockton Government: How it Works, and How to Make it Work for You.” The booklet is designed to teach people living in Stockton how their government operates, and how they can make the city’s power structure work for them. Stockton Record Columnist Michael Fitzgerald contributed to the booklet and joins us for this week’s News Network to explain why the Stockton Civics Group designed the booklet and what it’s hoping to achieve.
