True Cost of Oil Conservationist
and environmental photo journalist Garth Lenz will be
presenting "The True Cost of Oil: Images of Beauty and
Devastation" about the Alberta Tar Sands in Sacramento on
Thursday the 17th. From the outset, a central theme of Lenz's
work has been the contrasts between the industrialized and natural
landscape. As his understanding of ecological issues has
grown, so has the range of his photographic subjects. His
work has appeared in leading editorial publications including Time,
GEO, the New Yorker, The New York TImes, BBC Wildlife, and more.
Lenz's work on the Alberta Tar Sands was the
subject of a recent TED Talk and he joins us today to discuss
the status of our 20th century landscape.
BARK the Musical Sacramento Theatre Company has partnered with
the SPCA to
present "BARK the Musical" on the Pollock Stage. It's a
hilarious, fast-paced, and poignant tribute to man's best friend,
performed by a six member cast and told and sung from the dog's
point of view--from the little puppy who yearns to bark like a real
dog, to an opear singing poodle and a street mutt who raps. We'll
hear about the musical and talk about the partnership bringing it
to the stage.
