Glynn Philips owns the Rubicon Brewing Company and restaurant.
It's in Midtown Sacramento, not too far from the marathon's finish
line at the State Capitol Building.
Philips says business spikes on race
day.
"…generally, 10%-15%. We get a lot of people that come in
before the race - the support crew for the runners. And then once
the race is done, and I think particularly this year because the
weather supposed to be bad, we'll see a good amount of business
because people will want to get out of the weather."
Mike Testa with the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau
says a lot of other businesses benefit too.
Testa says the annual event has an overall economic impact of
about $7.3 million.
"That's everything from the athletes staying at hotels and
obviously spending money on meals but it's also the spectators
coming down, hopefully they're spending money in restaurants for
lunch, they're filling up their car with gas before they go home to
different areas of the region."
More than 15,000 people are expected to run the race that
begins in Folsom at 7AM on Sunday.
