Forbes Magazine ranked Stockton at the top of its list of Most Miserable Cities in 2011.
But 3,000 Stockton residents answered back last year by staging a street fair with a banner that declared Stockton Is Magnificent.This Saturday afternoon Stockton's Miracle Mile hopes to host 5,000 people.
Chamber of Commerce Director Doug Wilhoit says this year the need is greater than ever that neighbors take pride in their city.
Wilhoit: "And this just brings people No. 1 out of their houses, coming together and knowing we can all clasp hands together no matter where we come from in this community, we can all sit here as one and take it back.."
Miranda Winters is heading up the fair, and says over 100 nonprofit booths will be in place along with a history lesson.
Winters:"Students and children should be learning about their history about the city that they live in and that will promote civic pride."
Stockton Is Magnificent is free to the public and runs from 1 to 4 Saturday afternoon.
