California's Business Climate The Sacramento
area lost 1,000 jobs last week. Campbell's Soup closed a
canning factory after 65 years and Comcast announced it was
relocating 1,000 jobs outside of California -300 of those jobs from
Natomas. Campbell's says it decided to close the plant
because it's moving away from using metal cans and Comcast says its
reason for outsourcing jobs is part of a company-wide
restructuring. But many suspect -and Comcast even admitted
before releasing a correction- that California's business climate
is to blame. To better understand California's business
climate we're speaking with business experts from Texas (the state often considered the most
business friendly in the nation), Nevada (our neighbor that
usually makes the top 10 list in Chief Executives' rankings of best
states for business) and California (the state with the worst
reputation for business in many circles). Find the Chamber's Survey on California's Business Climate

Women Warriors The Domestic Violence Intervention Center was
founded by five women in 2000 who desired to create a grassroots
Domestic Violence organization that would meet the growing need for
services. The objective was to secure a facility to be used
as a safe house, to staff it, and run the organization with an
all-volunteer staff. DVIC has offered services to the
community since 2000 and opened the safe house (Harmony House) in
2007. We'll be speaking with the Executive Director of the
Center about their continuing mission and with a recipient of the
Center's support: a veteran of the US Army who has experienced
domestic violence as well as PTSD and TBI. We'll also speak
with singer Mary Youngblood who will be performing at the DV fundraising Concert at the Crest.
