Capitol Chat Governor Jerry Brown is
furiously signing and vetoing legislative bills before a midnight
Sunday deadline. Some of the bills he's signed include a
moratorium on closing state parks and a ban on using dogs to hunt
bears. In this edition of Capitol Chat, we catch up on
the Governor's latest actions with Capital Public
Radio's Capitol Bureau Chief Ben
Adler.
Mustard Seed Spin The Mustard Seed
Spin generates a donation of about $30,000 a year for the
Mustard Seed School. The Spin gets kids and their families
riding bikes for a good cause, and this is the 8th year for the
event. One exciting development this year has been
endorsement of the Spin by a young local cyclist named Mary Maroon.
The Spin is Sunday, September 30.
Christian McBride
Trio Jazz bassist Christian
McBride has played with and arranged music for some of the
music industry's greatest icons, including James Brown,
Sting and Don Henley. He's also been one of modern jazz's
most prominent and busy figures for the past 20 years.
McBride is constantly involved in a number of trios, quartets and
big bands, but his latest project is the Christian McBride Trio,
which features emerging pianist Christian
Sands and multi-Grammy-award-winning drummer Ulysses Owens
Jr. You can catch the Christian McBride Trio during one
of four shows this weekend (September 26 to September 29) at the Mondavi Center's Vanderhoef Studio
Theater.
