The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento has opened its new wing. It's 46,000-square-feet.
Jeanine Stiles with UC Davis Health System says there was a need for more treatment space and research space for testing of new therapies, "We're able to do phase-one trials before but we were limited because of space constraints. I mean we were very very crowded. We were, you know, our infusion time was getting a week or two weeks out and that's just not acceptable. You can't delay people's treatment because you don't have the space."
The center will soon combine some of its smaller clinics under one roof. It will also includes a number of care options that deal with a patient's mental well-being. A resource center and pharmacy will be onsite.
