People came out before dawn to get a spot just in case they might miss the fly over.

At about 9:50, it arrived, low in the sky flying over Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento.  The view from the capitol grounds lasted only about six seconds before the 747 carrying the Endeavor disappeared behind some palm trees and was gone. Christina Giovannini and Steve Schilz and their daughter Cece were thrilled with their brief brush with aerospace greatness.

"Oh my gosh, it was awesome! I didn't..I didn't even..he was the one who wanted to come and I thought, 'Oh, yeah, that'd be okay. That'd be cool.  I thought I was going to have to work, so I'm so glad we came because it brought tears to my eyes"

Then they and the other 4,000 or so who turned out started wondering if they should leave.

Most were like Joey -who stayed, hoping for an encore.  "I'm glad I got to see the shuttle for the first time.  It was neat.  Just really exciting."  

When I asked if he thought it would come back he said, "I hope so.  I think it's gonna come back."

Turns out Joey was right.  As we were talking the shuttle was making a u-turn over the Arden Arcade area.

" I see it Bob, there it is, yeah!"
