News Network The start of the Republican
National Convention has been delayed a day as Hurricane Isaac moves
across the Gulf of Mexico towards the Southern states. But, a
good portion of the California delegation is in Tampa, Florida
ready to represent the red side of their home blue
state. Sacramento Bee political reporter, Torey Van
Oot, is at the convention following the California delegation
and will explain what's happening. Plus, the National
Transportation Safety Board has determined the cause for a plane
crash at the Reno Air Races last year that killed ten spectators
and injured 70. Reporter for the
Reno Gazette-Journal, Martha Bellisle, was at the NTSB hearing Monday
and can explain the board's findings in the fatal crash.
Underrepresented California Voters UC Davis
study outlines voting disparity for Asian and Latino populations.
Although Latinos and Asians make up half of California's
population, they register to vote in far smaller percentages, a
University of California, Davis study reports. The voter
registration gap means that these ethnic groups have
proportionately less say in the electoral process compared to the

The Mountain Lions The UFL pro-football team was expected to leave
Sacramento but has been revived and relocated to Raley Field (from
Sac State.) Former KFBK GM Jeff Holden is the new GM, tryouts
were held in mid-August; the season opener is on the road September
19th. The home opener is Sept.
28.
Disabled Water Skier Rio Sophomore Connor Aguilar-Poggetto has won in Elk Grove
the US Disabled Water Ski National Championships (his first time.)
The athletes compete in two categories but Connor is quite
talented and won the "tricks" category. He'll explains how he
overcomes his disability to fulfill his dream.
