Johnson says Saturday was a full day of frustrating negotiations that finally led him to ask what was really in the hearts of the Maloofs.
JOHNSON: "I said, 'Do you want to be in Sacramento? Because if you don't then we can just keep doing this all day and find excuses why the deal won't work. And one after another,Joe said, 'Yes.' Gavin said, 'Yes." And George said 'Yes.' And then George said, "….But it's gotta be a good deal.' So, at that point, I knew."
As he tells the story, Johnson is flanked by local and state politicians including five council members. He only needs four votes on Tuesday to approve the agreement made this weekend.
ICON Taylor says construction could start by next March.
