Governor Jerry Brown was at the Regents meeting. He has called for more frugality in state spending. UC officials say Napolitano is responding by freezing the Office of the President’s budget and cutting UC employee travel costs 10 percent, among other measures.

The UC says it would keep tuition fees at current levels, increase financial aid awards and add faculty with the proposed 256 million dollars it would receive in the Governor’s budget proposal.
But the UC says it would still need more state funding to increase enrollment and fully modernize facilities.
Not everyone is happy with the revised budget proposed by California Governor Jerry Brown. But he does have the approval of the Community College system. Brown attended the Community College Board of Governors meeting today.
