Jeff Michael with U.O.P. says California is in its second year of recovery, though some places, like much of the Central Valley will only start to see noticeable improvement this year.
MICHAEL: "I think 2012 will finally start seeing positive numbers in most areas of the private economy. And some of the areas that have been dragging us down like construction and even some of the state and local government, the worst is over"
The forecast calls for double digit unemployment until 2014.
Michael says job growth will come primarily from health care
with improvements also coming in technology, and
manufacturing. The construction industry is also expected to
benefit from 56,000 new housing starts in 2012.
