Redevelopment and Affordable Housing
Now that the California Supreme Court has ruled on the issue,
redevelopment agencies will start being "unwound" come February.

in Sacramento about the future of affordable housing and funding
for ongoing redevelopment construction.
Modern Dogs A new study led by the University
of California Davis' wildlife genetics researchers provides a
surprising glimpse into the global heritage of both wild and
domestic dogs. Results from the study, which examined the DNA
of 642 dogs, suggest that European and American canine breeds were
much more influenced by dogs from Southeast Asia than by ancient
Western dogs or by dogs from the Middle East, as was previously
thought. We'll speak with Ben Sacks,
the lead researcher of the study.
Teaching Shakespeare "All the world 's a
stage, and all the men and women merely players." For
the first time ever, the
UC Davis School of Education and the Robert and Margrit Mondavi
Center are presenting a lively, 3-day conference
designed to help educators make Shakespeare come alive to their
students.
Writer's Brush Some of our greatest
writers, like Sylvia Plath and Kurt Vonnegut, were also artists.
This is the theme of the upcoming Third Annual
Sacramento Writer's Brush. It will take place on January
14 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Sacramento Poetry
Center. Writer's Brush will feature local writers, artists, as
well as singers and songwriters in an art show and readings of
their literary work.
