Death Valley Racer Elk Grove man Scott Brown

Deborah Davis Author Deborah
Davis will be speaking at the Crocker
Art Museum on Saturday about her book "Strapless: John Singer Sargent and the Fall of
Madame X." "Strapless" is the story behind one of the most
infamous paintings in art history "Madame X." That particular
painting is on view at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, but two
of Sargent's paintings are on display at the Crocker Art Museum as
part of the "Summer of Impressionism" exhibit.
Vagabond Opera The surrealist Portland,
Oregon troupe, Vagabond Opera, tucks the high drama of opera
into the tight squeeze of a sexy cabaret. Sinister and seedy yet
sweet and nostalgic, the sultry band mashes up Eastern European
folk theater and classical grandeur. They'll be performing in
our studio ahead of their performance in Nevada
City this Friday. Their newest CD "Sing for Your Lives!" was released earlier
this month.
