Song-writing Contest The American River Music Festival in Coloma is this weekend and organizers added a song-writing contest to this year's event. Contestants were given the title "Beans and Rice" and had to come up with a song for it. All submissions were judged in a "blind" contest and the winner is going to perform his song live on Insight before debuting it at the festival this weekend.

Jeremy Renner Modesto-native and Academy Award-nominated actor Jeremy Renner is returning to his hometown for a fundraising event benefiting the non-profit Gallo Center for the Arts. We'll talk to him about his career and what's happened since he was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in "The Hurt Locker." His latest film, "The Town," opens today.

Trombone Shorty Jazz-funk phenom Trombone Shorty returns to Sacramento tonight in support of his album "Backatown."
