Council To Consider Improving Park Lighting

City Councilwoman Angelique Ashby says lighting is a safety concern for the community -especially the Inderkum High School students who use the path the most.

"It's actually a joint-use campus where our library is and American River Junior College and our high school and so early in the morning or late in the evening when it gets dark, the kids are having to traverse that path in the dark."

The council is being asked to approve spending $360,000 on the lighting project.

Phase one of the park was completed earlier this month and includes a five-million dollar baseball complex and an outdoor theater.

The City Council has approved funding for phase two which will include a farmer's market, a stage for the theater and more baseball diamonds.
