Caterina Cornaro is an opera, in a prologue and two acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Giacomo Sacchèro wrote the Italian libretto. It is based on the life of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus from 1474 to 1489. It premiered at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples on January 12, 1844. This live 1972 recording stars Leyla Gencer, Giacomo Aragall and Renato Bruson. Carlo Felice Cillario conducts the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
