The latest AAA survey shows that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.08. That’s down seven cents from last month.
Matt Skryja is with AAA of Northern California. He says the state’s gasoline supply isn’t effected by the BP spill because California is a “fuel island”.
“…which means we get most of our fuel from here in our state and also from Canada and we don’t have any pipelines going in and out. Therefore, any big impact like that along the Gulf wouldn’t impact us.”
Skryja says one reason prices are dropping is that oil supplies are up but demand is down. He says not as many people are buying gas because they’re out-of-work and don’t commute.
The least expensive gas can be found in Marysville where unleaded averages around $2.94. South Lake Tahoe and Eureka have the highest average price at $3.25.
