Raymond has led the district for the last four years, having moved from the east coast.

Raymond implemented several programs including his "Priority Schools" initiative, which targeted the district’s seven highest-needs schools.

His tenure was not without controversy.  The district closed seven schools despite protests from parents.  Four schools originally on a list of possible closures stayed open.

Raymond is expected to formally announce his resignation Thursday.
