The blue and white Douglas VC 9 flew in from Phoenix to Castle Airport today. The plane, with the words "United States of America" emblazoned on it, was once used by Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton and several vice presidents.

"It was also used by every first lady of the United States from Mrs. Rosalynn Carter to Mrs. Laura Bush."

Joe Pruzzo is with the Castle Air Museum in Atwater

"This is a significant acquisition for us."

The plane joins 60 other vintage aircraft at the museum. Pruzzo says the plan is to eventually have the plane on display and open for people to step inside.

"This presidential aircraft will become the focal point of the new hangar exhibition hall facility which will be called the Presidential Pavillion."

That project is scheduled to begin next spring or summer. The plane was donated to the museum by the U.S Department of General Services.
