Visitors will be able to take advantage of free rides into Yosemite plus free entrance into the park on nine specified days of the year for the next three years.
Taking the family car into Yosemite can turn a dream trip into a nightmare with bumper to bumper traffic that can take 2 hours to get from one end of the park to the other.
YARTS or the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System regularly carries visitors to the park for a $25 fee.
But now it is offering nine selected days of free bus service from Highways 120 from Sonora and 140 from Merced, and Highways 395 and 41.
Park Ranger Jamie Richards says one of the free days is Independence Day which is also one of the busiest.
“Come and enjoy YARTS and experience the bus for the first time, get out there and have a nice time with the family, and hopefully have an experience with less stress than you would have if you were just driving yourself on the 4th of July weekend.
Check YARTS.com for the list of free days which start in April and continue through November.
