Officer Doug Morse with the Sacramento Police Department says the mother first claimed not to have the child, but the police found the girl in the trunk of the mother's car.
"She was in need of obvious emergency medical assistance and CPR was administered from not only by officers on the scene but some good samaritans and bystanders also assisted," says Morse. "The young girl was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased."]
Morse says the victim's relatives in Davis and Sacramento called the police yesterday after becoming worried about the little girl's welfare.
Her mother, Aquelin Talamantes was taken into custody last night and is now in the Yolo County Jail on a homicide charge.
