Auburn-based Moonraker Brewing Company announced plans this week to expand. The Sacramento Business Journal's Digital Editor Sonya Sorich says the beer-maker is opening a new location near its current place.
"The operators plan to use the new facility to brew Moonraker staples," says Sorich. "But meanwhile at the current brewing site, they'll be able to dabble in more experimental beers. And among other things, the owners say they want to experiment with barrel-aged sours."
The brewery opened in 2016 and has garnered national attention and many beer awards. Also this week, a new opening date was set for another beer company. Moksa Brewing Company will debut on February 3rd in Rocklin. It'll replace Dragas Brewing which closed a year ago.
A retail center along Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova called Nimbus Winery Village is getting new tenants. Sorich says two out-of-state businesses have chosen the center for their Sacramento area debut.
"Phoenix-based Dogtopia, which offers daycare, boarding and spa services for dogs, could open in the center in the next four to five months," says Sorich. "And Red Door Escape Room, from Texas, is also coming to the center. It's scheduled to have its soft launch in February."
Escape rooms are places where guests are locked in rooms and try to escape by solving puzzles. Some of the other businesses at the center include: Fort Rock Brewing, The Old Spaghetti Factory and Monster Mini Golf.
Sorich says the retail center has gone through some changes.
"Local real estate investor Ethan Conrad acquired the center in 2013 and it's since been remodeled," says Sorich. "The property is now being billed as a destination entertainment center. These two new additions are consistent with that label. They're the experience-oriented types of retail."
