Auburn Police Enlists Volunteers to Issue Parking Tickets

The city of Auburn has a new enforcement crew writing parking tickets. But they’re not uniformed officers. They’re police department volunteers.

The volunteers began issuing warnings two weeks ago. From Monday on, their tickets will actually cost money. The program started because downtown and Oldtown Auburn businesses complained about the city’s complete lack of parking enforcement.
