It’ll be days — possibly weeks — before Sacramento County finalizes results in Tuesday’s primary election. But with a commanding lead, incumbent District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert is claiming victory and moving forward.
During an interview on Wednesday morning on Insight With Beth Ruyak, Schubert reaffirmed her declaration of victory. “I just love this job, I do it for the right reasons, and I’m looking forward to another four years,” she said during the interview.
As of Wednesday morning, 94 percent of precincts had reported in Sacramento County, and Schubert led challenger Noah Phillips by more than 30,000 votes.
Schubert earned 63 percent to Phillips’ 33 percent. It’s a strong lead, but there remain tens of thousands of ballots yet to count.
